Study Visa

Study visa is issued along with study permit approval. If you are a legal resident in certain countries, you may be able to get your study permit faster by applying online through the Student Direct Stream.

The study permit allows foreign nationals to study at designated learning institutions (DLI) in Canada. Please ensure the DLI you selected is offering Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP). Make sure you have all the documents you need before you apply. You should apply before you travel to Canada. Your Study permit is not a visa.

Student Direct Stream:
  • Applicant must be a legal resident living in 1 of the following countries:
  1. Antigua and Barbuda
  2. Brazil
  3. China
  4. Columbia
  5. Costa Rica
  6. India
  7. Morocco
  8. Pakistan
  9. Peru
  10. Philippines
  11. Senegal
  12. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  13. Trinidad and Tobago
  14. Vietnam
  • Receive an acceptance letter from a designated Learning Institution
  • Must provide proof of paid tuition for your first year of study.
  • Must have a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAN$ 20,635 (Effective January 01, 2024)
  • Must have Quebec Acceptance Certificate (If planning to study in Quebec)
  • Provide a medical exam before you apply (If required)
  • Provide a police certificate before you apply (If required)
  • Must ensure you have all the educational transcripts available.
  • Must have a language test result of less than 2 years old IELTS (Academic or General) with a score of 6.0 or higher in each skill.

*If you live in another anywhere other than one of the countries listed above (even if you are a citizen of the countries above) you must apply through the regular study permit application process.

You must complete and submit their applications at the same time as your own. In your application, indicate you have family members coming with you to Canada.
