Permits

To be able to work In Canada you are required to have a work permit.

There are different work permits such as:

Open work permit

Open work permit gives a person liberty to work in Canada for any employer, basically foreign nationals would be able to gain Canadian Work experience and qualify for Canadian Experience Class after one (1) year of experience.

Employer Specific Work permit (LMIA)

This is also called as LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) where an employer is required to follow certain requirements and receive a document by Employment Canada to hire a foreign national and that foreign national is only authorised to work for that specific employer.

Post Graduate Work Permit

International Students in Canada studying at Designated Learning Institutions can apply for their Post Graduate Work permit after the completion of their Study program. Depending on the length of study, a student receives Post Graduate Work Permit. For Example: One year of Study will get you One year of PGWP and Two year of Study will get you 3 years of PGWP.

Co-op Work Permit

This Permit is study program specific, if your study program requires a co-op or Internship, you are required to apply for one to be able to work as an intern or as co-op placement, this will allow you to work full time during the tenure of your study program. ESL/FSL students are not eligible for this permit.

Spousal Work Permit

In most cases, your spouse or common-law partner can work in Canada, if they apply for this permit usually their permit expires on the day the spouse work permit expires.
